A Little About Me

I'm Kala.. Yes there's no Y in my name. Mom says it's because she didn't want me to have a hard time writing it in kindergarten.. Silly I know but that's Mom. I grew up in the small town of Nokomis as the youngest of 3 other siblings Shane, Michael and Mindy. The song American Honey relates most to my life... "She grew up on the side of the road, where the church bells ring and strong love grows, she grew up good, she grew up slow, like American Honey" I am going to be sharing my stories of the past present and what I hope to accomplish in my future. I am a very genuine girl and pray and hope my life in the future brings me happiness and joy and still be the genuine person I am... Life Is Short Lets Make The Best Of It!!!

Rock The Ribbon

How many do you support?? You do not have to take the time to read what each ribbon means but simply ROCKING the RIBBON is to show what you believe in through colors.. Not words, meaning no one can judge you for what it says because most people wont take time to ask or think enough to care about what maybe you or your family/friend is going through. If we all take a second to see how many people we know have died that were close to us by accident or surprise there is a ribbon for it.. Just like Apple.. The beginning of 2010 was unbelievably rocky for me... Sure new years was great and I had a blast with friends! Who are still there for me today! :) But on Jan 3rd was not a great day for me. I had thought my whole world was going to end and I would never live without someone in my life.. I look back now and realize, it was a Life Lesson and people do move on we do forgive although it's hard to forget and I still think to this day it's almost impossible to forget some things but... Times like those when we are down we turn to the positive people in our life and they reach out for our hand when we want to fall! They go the extra step when we are crawling and that phone call at 3am they answer it because they know our pain. I used to be so very down about things at the beginning of this year. I turned 21 supposed to be your best birthday and it was my golden but I still was down about things to just shrug my shoulders and say 'ehh' but it turned out to be a great time and I had all my friends around me to make me feel Golden! Negativity set into my life for a good 3 months.. Lots of prayers were said.. Lots of talks took place and still I wasn't the same Kala.. But one day, I was a new me but back to myself.. Sounds confusing I know but I realized that 2-3 years prior I was a happy go lucky, no worries, always smiling kind-of-gal.. I wanted that back! I needed change.. I needed that door to open and let me tell you it did! I moved into the town I love, on my own! I worked with the public, which I loved! I started taking care of myself again! I let nothing get me down! I was always positive and cut the negative thoughts, people and actions out of my life! COMPLETELY! That door had finally opened! "Good things happen to good people" I finally felt great about myself again. I had lost that feeling and was able to be Little Miss Positive and So happy about life which I love! WE all get down and sad some days and we all run into ruts in our life but stick it out, learn from it, work on you! We need to FORGET the negative and FORGIVE our self for forgetting it in the first place. Everyone's door will open sure some doors are darker than others but we have to go through the dark to turn on the light.. Life is too short to be anything but happy! Live for today and not tomorrow because tomorrow may never be! We have all heard these quotes now lets make a pact to start living them!! When you have those dark days, reach out to that positive person that you always know will be there for you to help you see the light. There is a light at the end of every tunnel it may be dim but it is still there! To all my readers I promise to reach out for you when you may need me, I promise to do my best at helping you smile and laugh on your sad days and last but not least I PROMISE your door WILL open!!! Thanks for reading and God Bless~

Tribute to Geech!

"I heard they were good!"... "Yeah, well I know there awesome" A conversation that took place ending on an agreement about a band.. You may or may not have heard of them but Captain Geech and the Shrimp Shack Shooters.. From slowing down Mustang Sally to Oh Mickey He's So Fine and throwing in a little Poison, you have your self a pretty good time! Not drinking? No big deal, these guys make you want to dance sober, and we all know how many of us are really comfortable dancing sober! These guys play all through out Illinois and they know how to throw a party each time. If you have seen them once you will want to see them a million times! I first saw them at the Illinois State Fair at the Corona tent this past August. I listened to them while carrying a conversation and in mid sentence I said "I think I just fell in love" Usher don't got nothing on this DJ! There presence makes everyone want to be there friend. You know, "I'm with the band" type of people! Sure they say all bands have there clashes.. With this one its like there a family.. You got Jay Bird the drummer! Joker on the Keyboard! Julie the female vocals! Peter Vocals and rhythm guitar! Buster on Bass! and last but not least Christopher Lead guitar and Vocals! The combination of there sound together is amazing! They Literally can not put on a BAD show! So as I blab on about them I am just hear to tell you would I steer any of you wrong? Absolutely not! Check them out for your self! They have a facebook page that tells all of us fans where they will be! Thanks again for reading and God Bless~ Kala*

The "Perfect" Baby Shower

So as most of you know... A friend of mine is expecting a baby and as a Best friend/family members we do our best to welcome the child with open arms and make sure that the new mom has everything she needs. In order to do this a task must be completed! A BABY SHOWER.... First things first... I did not do this alone so here is the direct credit and attention to all the other girls who helped out any way they could weather it was family or friends these girls did a great job for what they had to work with. Being 21 we don't have established careers and that makes it hard to spend an okay amount of money. So planning is a must, saving is a must and last but not least a budget is an absolute must. First thing. Who was helping? Rounded up about 10 close friends and family more than willing to help. Got that down! The place was an easy pick as we used my Church's basement for a small fee which was one of the gifts I put forward for the mother to be. Next was who is doing what.. Very hard decision as you need the creative ones to do one thing, the its easy its cute lets do it girls to do another. Decorations, Invitations, Games, Prizes, Cake, Punch, Centerpieces, It all had to be discussed and planned.. You can't do this over night so don't think it's possible if your going to include all of the above tasks.. It's a girl so of course Pink Pink Pink the best and nothing less.. It was about two months before the shower as we all started picking out what we wanted to incorporate everything with. Trust me Not Easy! The stress level starts to pick up as your getting down to who has what and what is it we still need to get. All the girls did great at getting there part done and it couldn't have looked so cute.. We had pink and brown decor. Floating Tea Lights. Flower pen centerpieces with coffee beans to hold them up. A lady bug pink and brown cake with matching cup cakes. Prizes were great as well! The shower was a complete success but not something I'd want to take up on as a hobby.. Wedding planners I sure as heck dont know how you do it. But the best part about the entire shower was no matter anyone's differences, we all came together for baby Leigha and the mommy to be. WE wish the family the best of luck as the new arrival is going to be here shortly. May she grow up to be a very kind-hearted well-mannered beautiful young lady! May god bless her and keep her safe through all obstacles that may come her way! Let her know she has many people who are here to care for her and help her along the way of life just as we have had done for us through out these years! And God last but not least please let her be healthy and happy with positivity all the days of her life! :) Thank you for reading and God Bless~

All About The Little Things

This ones gonna be short... First I apologize for being a slacker... Life threw me of track a bit. I was busy for a while but I'm back!! This is to introduce you to the newest member in my life... Punchi!!! She is my Chorkie.. A hand full but super sweet! She makes me feel better on a bad day and smile when I don't want to.. I got a phone call the 29th of Aug and a friend of mine was very upset... I asked what's wrong.. The mom to her new puppies 4 weeks old had just gotten run over.. :-( having 5 to get rid of she asked if I could take one... I think to myself huge responsibility but how can I say no to something so helpless... I go load her up get all the puppy stuff I can find and even got her puppy formula since she was still on "mommy milk" after a very whiney car ride home I lay her in her cage hoping to get some sleep and who was I kidding she was going to wine all night if I did that so... In my bed she comes sleeps my my head no bigger than a iPhone she slept by me all night.. I then was in search of a name.. She was small, fiesty, and kept punchin her had so punchi was a name I always wanted to have for a dog stuck.. Then I went to see Eat Pray Love and a scraggly toothed guru named ketut was little and harmless so there was her middle name... My little Punchi Ketut is a ton of fun no bigger than the hole for your foot in a tennis shoe.. Thanks for reading God Bless! Kala *
