A Little About Me

I'm Kala.. Yes there's no Y in my name. Mom says it's because she didn't want me to have a hard time writing it in kindergarten.. Silly I know but that's Mom. I grew up in the small town of Nokomis as the youngest of 3 other siblings Shane, Michael and Mindy. The song American Honey relates most to my life... "She grew up on the side of the road, where the church bells ring and strong love grows, she grew up good, she grew up slow, like American Honey" I am going to be sharing my stories of the past present and what I hope to accomplish in my future. I am a very genuine girl and pray and hope my life in the future brings me happiness and joy and still be the genuine person I am... Life Is Short Lets Make The Best Of It!!!

As one closes.. Another one DOES open!

The beginning of 2010 was unbelievably rocky for me... Sure new years was great and I had a blast with friends! Who are still there for me today! :) But on Jan 3rd was not a great day for me. I had thought my whole world was going to end and I would never live without someone in my life.. I look back now and realize, it was a Life Lesson and people do move on we do forgive although it's hard to forget and I still think to this day it's almost impossible to forget some things but... Times like those when we are down we turn to the positive people in our life and they reach out for our hand when we want to fall! They go the extra step when we are crawling and that phone call at 3am they answer it because they know our pain. I used to be so very down about things at the beginning of this year. I turned 21 supposed to be your best birthday and it was my golden but I still was down about things to just shrug my shoulders and say 'ehh' but it turned out to be a great time and I had all my friends around me to make me feel Golden! Negativity set into my life for a good 3 months.. Lots of prayers were said.. Lots of talks took place and still I wasn't the same Kala.. But one day, I was a new me but back to myself.. Sounds confusing I know but I realized that 2-3 years prior I was a happy go lucky, no worries, always smiling kind-of-gal.. I wanted that back! I needed change.. I needed that door to open and let me tell you it did! I moved into the town I love, on my own! I worked with the public, which I loved! I started taking care of myself again! I let nothing get me down! I was always positive and cut the negative thoughts, people and actions out of my life! COMPLETELY! That door had finally opened! "Good things happen to good people" I finally felt great about myself again. I had lost that feeling and was able to be Little Miss Positive and So happy about life which I love! WE all get down and sad some days and we all run into ruts in our life but stick it out, learn from it, work on you! We need to FORGET the negative and FORGIVE our self for forgetting it in the first place. Everyone's door will open sure some doors are darker than others but we have to go through the dark to turn on the light.. Life is too short to be anything but happy! Live for today and not tomorrow because tomorrow may never be! We have all heard these quotes now lets make a pact to start living them!! When you have those dark days, reach out to that positive person that you always know will be there for you to help you see the light. There is a light at the end of every tunnel it may be dim but it is still there! To all my readers I promise to reach out for you when you may need me, I promise to do my best at helping you smile and laugh on your sad days and last but not least I PROMISE your door WILL open!!! Thanks for reading and God Bless~

Tribute to Geech!

"I heard they were good!"... "Yeah, well I know there awesome" A conversation that took place ending on an agreement about a band.. You may or may not have heard of them but Captain Geech and the Shrimp Shack Shooters.. From slowing down Mustang Sally to Oh Mickey He's So Fine and throwing in a little Poison, you have your self a pretty good time! Not drinking? No big deal, these guys make you want to dance sober, and we all know how many of us are really comfortable dancing sober! These guys play all through out Illinois and they know how to throw a party each time. If you have seen them once you will want to see them a million times! I first saw them at the Illinois State Fair at the Corona tent this past August. I listened to them while carrying a conversation and in mid sentence I said "I think I just fell in love" Usher don't got nothing on this DJ! There presence makes everyone want to be there friend. You know, "I'm with the band" type of people! Sure they say all bands have there clashes.. With this one its like there a family.. You got Jay Bird the drummer! Joker on the Keyboard! Julie the female vocals! Peter Vocals and rhythm guitar! Buster on Bass! and last but not least Christopher Lead guitar and Vocals! The combination of there sound together is amazing! They Literally can not put on a BAD show! So as I blab on about them I am just hear to tell you would I steer any of you wrong? Absolutely not! Check them out for your self! They have a facebook page that tells all of us fans where they will be! Thanks again for reading and God Bless~ Kala*

The "Perfect" Baby Shower

So as most of you know... A friend of mine is expecting a baby and as a Best friend/family members we do our best to welcome the child with open arms and make sure that the new mom has everything she needs. In order to do this a task must be completed! A BABY SHOWER.... First things first... I did not do this alone so here is the direct credit and attention to all the other girls who helped out any way they could weather it was family or friends these girls did a great job for what they had to work with. Being 21 we don't have established careers and that makes it hard to spend an okay amount of money. So planning is a must, saving is a must and last but not least a budget is an absolute must. First thing. Who was helping? Rounded up about 10 close friends and family more than willing to help. Got that down! The place was an easy pick as we used my Church's basement for a small fee which was one of the gifts I put forward for the mother to be. Next was who is doing what.. Very hard decision as you need the creative ones to do one thing, the its easy its cute lets do it girls to do another. Decorations, Invitations, Games, Prizes, Cake, Punch, Centerpieces, It all had to be discussed and planned.. You can't do this over night so don't think it's possible if your going to include all of the above tasks.. It's a girl so of course Pink Pink Pink the best and nothing less.. It was about two months before the shower as we all started picking out what we wanted to incorporate everything with. Trust me Not Easy! The stress level starts to pick up as your getting down to who has what and what is it we still need to get. All the girls did great at getting there part done and it couldn't have looked so cute.. We had pink and brown decor. Floating Tea Lights. Flower pen centerpieces with coffee beans to hold them up. A lady bug pink and brown cake with matching cup cakes. Prizes were great as well! The shower was a complete success but not something I'd want to take up on as a hobby.. Wedding planners I sure as heck dont know how you do it. But the best part about the entire shower was no matter anyone's differences, we all came together for baby Leigha and the mommy to be. WE wish the family the best of luck as the new arrival is going to be here shortly. May she grow up to be a very kind-hearted well-mannered beautiful young lady! May god bless her and keep her safe through all obstacles that may come her way! Let her know she has many people who are here to care for her and help her along the way of life just as we have had done for us through out these years! And God last but not least please let her be healthy and happy with positivity all the days of her life! :) Thank you for reading and God Bless~

All About The Little Things

This ones gonna be short... First I apologize for being a slacker... Life threw me of track a bit. I was busy for a while but I'm back!! This is to introduce you to the newest member in my life... Punchi!!! She is my Chorkie.. A hand full but super sweet! She makes me feel better on a bad day and smile when I don't want to.. I got a phone call the 29th of Aug and a friend of mine was very upset... I asked what's wrong.. The mom to her new puppies 4 weeks old had just gotten run over.. :-( having 5 to get rid of she asked if I could take one... I think to myself huge responsibility but how can I say no to something so helpless... I go load her up get all the puppy stuff I can find and even got her puppy formula since she was still on "mommy milk" after a very whiney car ride home I lay her in her cage hoping to get some sleep and who was I kidding she was going to wine all night if I did that so... In my bed she comes sleeps my my head no bigger than a iPhone she slept by me all night.. I then was in search of a name.. She was small, fiesty, and kept punchin her had so punchi was a name I always wanted to have for a dog stuck.. Then I went to see Eat Pray Love and a scraggly toothed guru named ketut was little and harmless so there was her middle name... My little Punchi Ketut is a ton of fun no bigger than the hole for your foot in a tennis shoe.. Thanks for reading God Bless! Kala *

You Know You Got A Friend If...

You have those friends that make you think.. Give you the question, why am I friends with them or how can I live with out them? Happy or Sad situations they are there for you or you are returning the favor.. They call you at 2am needing a ride.. Do you get them? How many times have they picked you up? When that break up happens and you are happy with your life do you care or go about your day? What happens when you have a broken heart and they aren't there.. Ask yourself Why? The friend that says I love you just because.. They are saying this because even if you are not with them they are sad and want to tell you happy things.. Tell them you love them back! Do you have that friend that you can tell all your secrets to, and keep theirs then knowing it will be told? The I am perfect friend- The one that brings you down because they are better than you in so many ways and they tell you... They are sad with there life because nothing is perfect.. Smiling because you can't stand one another yet speak is just a polite way of saying your not my friend but I don't want trouble... The ones that can look at you and know you are SO happy about something and they bug you until you tell them all the details... How about the I have no money friend, do you give them money knowing it most likely wont come back, maybe someday you will need it, will they give it to you?... The advice friends, you have small talk but when you call one another you really know it's about advice or to vent there known as the go-to friend... How about the ones who 'hop' you see them daily for 3 months then don't hear from them for weeks knowing you still are close but have no 'need'.. You have friends like these? Are they friends? Acquaintances? or just People?
What about the friends who call you to say How are you?
The ones who buy you dinner even when it's not your birthday?
The I will help you and expect nothing back?
The ones who call you while you are out making sure everything is kosher?
The ones who say I'll take the blame...
Or how about the Your getting out of the house because I'm tired of looking at you? Then they take you shopping...
Its a bad day and they bring you a 6 pack to calm you down..
Brings you a box of Kleenex's when you have a cold so you don't get a chapped nose?
The ones who want to destroy the 'hulks' car because you are hurt?
The one who takes a 100 pictures with you until you like it because hers are always good...
The one that calls you to tell you first they are engaged or having a baby...
Inside jokes are always kept to the two of you and you laugh together when people expect you to tell them what the heck is going on...
The one that searches for 20 minutes just to find a picture..
The sweetheart who leaves a voicemail seeing how your 'talk' went and not knowing if it was good or bad she still says love you to make you smile...
The one that checks on you daily when shes not even in the same town...
You cant forget the one who will pop your back when they pretty much cringe every time and says I'm not doing it again then do it the next day..
Your sick in bed and she comes to run errands for you..
The medical gal that answers all your questions even if it's just a migrane..
The facebook girl that creeps your page daily to make sure you are smiling and if there is something fishy she will text you..
All these are examples of a FRIEND... Life is short and you don't make many friends like these.. Hold them close and cherish everything you have with them.. Don't take anything for granted.. Thanks for reading! God Bless Kala*

What Do You Get A Hero For Their Birthday?

What is the best gift to give a woman who is a Hero to many?
The web definition of hero is- a man of great strength and courage, favored by the gods and in part descended from them, often regarded as a half-god and worshiped after his death.
Strength-The ability to maintain a moral or intellectual position firmly
Courage-The attitude of facing and dealing with anything recognized as dangerous, difficult, or painful, instead of withdrawing from it; quality of being fearless or brave.
This woman is by far over and beyond those definitions! Let me tell you a little bit about this woman.. Some of you may know her and you are blessed to know such a great person! She goes above the max to take care of her "Children" meaning, niece's or nephew's, friends and family.. They are her "Children" If one of us is out of line she is not I repeat IS NOT afraid of 'rippin us a new one' Police would rather have her take care of us than them hand over a 75 dollar ticket! :)
She is one of the best grandmothers out there... I think if she could choose she would take all of them daily to the pool or to hang out in 'gramas' garden!
She is a kid at heart and that's why she relates so well to the younger ones but when around the adults man she knows how to make a dirty joke and have us laughing non stop!
She is a very important person to me in many ways but when I was 8 months old I loved her so much I said her name.. Not just Jo but Joletta.. Clear as day! So I have been told and since that day she has been someone I have looked up to and hope I can be more and more like her as I grow older..
How many of you can say you saved someones life?? I am sure some of you can and that is absolutely great!!! But how many of you can say you saved many lives? I know I sure can't.. This woman has been on the EMT field for many many years! A CPR instructor along with EMT and at least 3 other life altering jobs in this woman's world.
Say some of you are EMT's and are reading this saying "Yea, I do that too" let me ask you... How many of you go to save a life? How many of you have to go and say one is no longer alive? It takes a very special person to swallow changing hats sometimes daily! The happy/sad up/down roller coaster of a day to day job.. "I saved one" "One is no longer with us" Tell me that's easy.. I can not answer but I know it can not be easy!
This woman is coming up to her I wont say exact birthday because she would shoot me but for 50's she looks great and feels great too! :) Now the question is.. What do you get her to show your appreciation of her Heroism Strength and Courage??
How many cards should one send her? As many as shes saved as a Thank You
How many flower arrangements are sent to her house? The amount that was saved from being taken to a funeral.
What gift to get her? The ones that adults were able to grow up to have after being a child in an accident.
or a Book full of prayers that weren't said because there loved one was not in a coma or on life support..
Do you walk up to her and give her a hug for her great doings and say a simple "Thank you, Happy Birthday"
Do you buy her a bottle of wine that was pumped out with fluid from the drunk driver who is still with us by luck?
All these many things may not make a bit of sense to anyone but this woman deserves all of this and more! She is a person we all want to be at some point in time.. When you see that wreck on the interstate don't you wish you can stop and see if someone needs help and actually KNOW what you are doing?
Don't all of you wish you can say I saved that little girls life while walking down the isle at a wedding...
I'm not saying she has DONE ALL of these but I guarantee she has done most of this.. Or she will!!
I am asking some of you If you see this woman even if you read this 3 months from now, think about all that she has done and maybe someday YOUR life may be saved by her and her team!
Miss Joletta- I am sure you are reading this, I would love to buy you all the flowers there are that are growing, All the cards in Hallmark, Give you all the thank you hugs that people DO NOT give you.. I simply decided to write about what a Hero you are to me! What an inspiration you are to me! You are one of a kind and I am very blessed to have you in my life and I thank you so much for your service and thank you for saving my life in many ways! I <3 U and Happy 5? birthday! haha
Thank you all for reading and God Bless

To surround myself with positive people and a positive atmosphere! Everyone I work with is GrEaT!!! I just feel like I can be myself with all of them! In traveling with people how important is that... Its huge!!! The crew- Jodi, the big sister.. Always making sure I was okay and made me feel confident and kept re-assuring me that I would do great! JoAnn and Den- The mom and dad that made sure extra snacks were inthe hotel and a pillow was brought for the ride! Dan- The quiet one who always made sure that things were planned and followed through set to schedule! Kurt- The class clown.. Naturally The one id get along with considering my sense of humor does not stop! He always made sure everyone was 'cool' and had 2 thumbs up! Last but certainly not least Elijah- My little 5 year old guy for the weekend! He always told me I was pretty by fainting when he saw me or smiled at me when I winked at him haha! He brought us all laughs but I'm still on the market fellas Elijah has a 20 year old girlfriend who he is in LoVe with!!! =( no luck for me! haha First trip was Minnesota! Let me tell you about the nicest most welcoming people... Gawin was the first thickened accent that I came into contact with... He was the type of guy to have handed us his own shirt if we needed it! People like these are out there but how often do you get to count on a complete stranger and they don't dissappoint you? Everything went great and on auction day we couldn't have asked for a better set up! It was my first auction and I loved it! The day before I had no idea what even a bid call was... Haha totally Auction Virgin!!! But I adjusted quickly to the fast talking I called it and to the accent and even picked it up while talking to the locals!! All in All I cant wait to do it again!
